OUR STORY

The CU Aunties is a collective of female Colorado Buffaloes football fans dedicated to supporting their “nephews”. The collective started in Boulder, CO with the arrival of Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders.

Many familiar with the multi-sports superstar and icon, knows that anything Sanders touches turns into something special. So, in true “Prime Time” fashion, Sanders has brought a new wave of female fans to Boulder, CO.

Coach Prime has galvanized female football fans from Arkansas, California, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee, Texas, and any other state you can name. The ladies' range in age from 25 to 99, can’t forget about Miss Peggy, who say #TheyComing to support Prime and his boys.

CU football has opened its' doors to the fans from Season 1 with behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage from the likes of Well Off Media, Thee Pre Game Show and Reach the People Media. Most comments by female fans call the players “nephews” and affectionately refer to themselves as #InternetAunties. CU’s continued BTS stories have allowed female fans to learn about the players and root for these young men as they chase greatness with a fearless, change maker for a coach.

Many support the team as lineage CU Buffs' fans and lifelong Coach Prime fans, while some are new to the herd. They all agree that they support these young men like family. They are engaged in the story of the Buffalo herd helmed by Coach Prime and tuned in on YouTube to see what antics their “nephews” get into while working towards their NFL dreams.

Why call themselves “Aunties”?

Some of the female fans are what society would consider elder in age to the young men on the team. “Auntie” or “Unc”(see Uncle) have become slang terms of respect from the young generation. So lady fans have coined themselves “Aunties” to the young men.

The CU Aunties have carved out a space for themselves!
